IMO Private First Class Tyler J. Smith

 

Army Private Tyler J. Smith, age 22, of Bethel, Maine, died March 21, 2008 at Forward Operating Base Falcon near Baghdad, Iraq from wounds suffered when the base received indirect fire.  He was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Georgia.

Smith was a 2004 graduate of Telstar High School. PVT Smith joined the Army in December of 2005.  He was a combat engineer.  He was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Good Conduct Medal.  He leaves behind a wife.
