Veverka graduated
from Jamestown High School, Pennsylvania in 1998, where he was a
standout basketball player. His father and stepmother, Ronald and
Judi Veverka, live in Sharon, Pennsylvania. The Polleys live in West
Shenango Township in Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
He served for three years as a member of the
elite Old Guard . . the unit which stands watch over the Tomb of the
Unknowns at Arlington. Veverka was buried at Arlington
National Cemetery.
While attending college in Maine he joined the Maine National Guard while studying for his
bachelor's degree in wildlife ecology at the University of Maine in
Bangor, his family said. University officials said they will pay
tribute to him during Saturday's commencement ceremony. He was
a senior the the University of Maine before being called to active
duty. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in wildlife ecology
posthumously magna cum laude.
