IMO Specialist Joshua U. Humble

 

SPC Joshua U. Humble, age 21, of Appleton, Maine was killed in action in Iraq on February 26, 2006.  He died in Baghdad, Iraq when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV during patrol operations.  He was assigned as a Scout to the 1st Squadron, 71st Cavalry, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 10th Mountain Division of Fort Drum, New York.

Humble attended elementary school at the Warren Primary and the Frank D. Rowe schools in Warren.  He  was a student at Camden Hills Regional High School from 1999-2002.  He enlisted in the Army in January 2004 and deployed to Iraq in August.

His hobbies included hunting and fishing in the woods and trout ponds around his Appleton home.

Humble's decorations include a Purple Heart and an Army Achievement Medal.

A funeral was held at the Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home at 182 Waldo Avenue.  Military honors were conducted by U.S. Army honor guards from Maine and Fort Drum, N.Y., where the fallen soldier was stationed.
