In Memory of SGT Marco Miller
| SGT Marco Miller was a member of the 20th Special
Forces Group, Florida Army National Guard. He died
on December 5, 2006 in Landstuhl, Germany from wounds
received during a mortar attack in Iraq while deployed in support of combat operations
on December 3, 2006. Marco Miller,
age 36, deployed
with 20th Special Forces to Iraq in support of Operation
Iraqi Freedom (OIF).
SGT Miller
was born in Warren, Ohio, and lived most recently in Longwood, Florida. He
enlisted in the Army November 1990, as a chemical operations specialist
and left the service in 1994. Following the events of September 11th, he
enlisted in the Florida National Guard as a chemical decontamination
specialist assigned to 3rd Battalion, 20th Special Forces Group
(Airborne) in January 2002. SGT Miller
was mobilized in May 2006 and deployed in support of Operation Iraqi
Freedom (OIF) in August 2006.
His awards and decorations include the Army Reserve Components
Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service
Medal with Bronze Service Star, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on
Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal,
Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” device, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas
Service Ribbon and Parachutist Badge.
Miller
is survived by his mother Renee Miller of Warren, Ohio, brother Demond
Miller of Fern Park, Florida, and his daughter of Florida.
