Army Private
First Class Jason Dore, of Moscow, Maine, died July 8, 2007 from injuries sustained in a
vehicle suicide bombing against his Humvee while on
patrol. He was a member of the 2nd Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment,
1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division from Fort Hood, Texas.
Dore attended Upper Kennebec Valley High School in
Bingham, Maine. He worked in Bangor with the Penobscot Job Corps
where he learned welding. He grew up in the Moscow, Maine area and
enjoyed being outdoors and fishing.
Jason Dore joined the Army in 2005. Jason had
just re-enlisted for another three years in the Army two weeks prior to
his death. He leaves behind his father, mother, brother, extended
family, and many friends. In addition, he leaves behind his fiancée
who he has been seeing for several years and was planning to marry in
January 2008 upon his return from Iraq.
The funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, July
17, 2007 at the Quimby Elementary
School in Bingham. Burial was in Robinson Cemetery in Moscow,
Maine.
