IMO Captain Patrick Damon

 

 

CPT Patrick D. Damon, 41, of Falmouth, Maine, died in Bagram, Afghanistan, on June 15, from a non-combat related cause.  He was assigned to the Maine Army National Guard's 240th Engineer Group, Augusta, Maine.

Patrick Damon grew up in Wiscasset and Newcastle.  He graduated from Hyde School in Bath, Maine.  He attended American University in Washington.

His unit had mobilized in January.  Damon deployed to Afghanistan in April.  Damon joined the National Guard in 1986 and was in his final year before qualifying for retirement in October 2006.  He had served deployments to Guatemala and Panama.

 He had taken leave of his job as administrative director with the Maine Public Utilities Commission.  He had worked as a policy advisor to four speakers of the state House of Representatives.  He has worked in government since 1994.

He leaves behind a wife and two children, ages 14 and 12.
