First Sergeant Christopher Coffin, age 51, of Kennebunk, Maine, died in Iraq on 1 July 2003. He was a reservist and a member of the 352nd Civil Affairs Command. As a civilian, he worked at the Portsmouth Navy Yard in Kittery, Maine. He had just recently completed a tour in Kosovo. He was then re-activated for duty in Iraq.
