IMO Major Jay Thomas Aubin

 

Major Jay Thomas Aubin, USMC of Maine who died March 20, 2003 when the CH-46E Sea Knight helicopter he was flying crashed while conducting operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.  Aubin  was promoted posthumously to Major.  He was a member of the 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing.  Major Aubin, age 36, grew up in Skowhegan.  His mother now lives in Winslow.  A memorial service was held in Winslow March 29th, 2003.  Family and friends attended the service at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church.  The service was followed by a 21 gun salute on the church grounds.

Also killed in the helicopter crash was Marine Corporal Brian Matthew Kennedy of Houston, whose mother lives in the village of Port Clyde in the town of St. George, Maine.
